What is forestry mulching, and how is it different from land clearing?
A forestry mulcher is a tracked machine with a grinding head that shreds brush, saplings and small trees into mulch right where they stand. Nothing gets pushed into piles, hauled off or burned, and the mulch layer protects the soil. Full land clearing is for when you need bare dirt: trees, stumps and roots come out and the site is graded. L&D does both, and the walkthrough is where we work out which one your property needs.
How much does forestry mulching cost?
Every job is priced per project, not by the hour, and mulching projects start at $1,500. The final number depends on acreage, how thick the growth is and how easy it is to get the machine in. The on-site estimate is free and the price you get is the price you pay for the agreed scope.
Do you work in my area?
L&D is based in Lexington, NC and covers a 60-mile radius. That takes in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area along with High Point, Thomasville, Salisbury, Asheboro, Lewisville, Mooresville and Yadkinville. If you are unsure, send the form with your address and we will confirm.
Can I keep some of the trees?
Yes. Selective clearing is a normal part of the job. Walk the property with us, flag what stays, and the mulcher works around it. Larger trees that are beyond the mulcher are handled as tree work, with removal, trimming and stump removal available.
What happens after the clearing?
Once the brush is down you can leave the mulch to hold the soil, seed over it, or move straight into the next phase. L&D also does grading, house pads, gravel driveways, drainage, excavation and ponds, so the same crew can take the property from overgrown to build-ready.
